Evening Dresses
Getting dressed up is a joy for most women and when we really have to glam it up, we enjoy it even more but the decision making behind an outfit can take hours. Our dress dilemma is often made worse when we are unsure of how to dress for a particular occasion and the formal occasion is one such example.
When invited to a formal occasion it can often be hard to decide what length is best when it comes to an evening dress. The majority of women will wear a full-length evening dress but is it ok to go short sometimes?
This question really depends on a variety of factors such as:
a) Age
b) Occasion
c) Company
These things combined don’t make it easy to give a straightforward answer …
The first thing to consider is age – if you’re young and you’ve still got it, then it’s OK to show a bit of leg. The key is balance, show leg but cover your chest or arms and vice versa. Too much skin isn’t attractive no matter how young or slim you are.
Size is also a factor. In the evening dresses plus size category full-length maxis are the best look, elongating and therefore sliming the body.
Occasion is also important. Often, formal events will inform you of their dress code but if it is a bit vague stick to what is safe – floor length and elegant. If you do go short, keep it just above the knee, and choose a dress in a classic cut and color – the little black dress is always a good option!
Short dresses can be as beautiful as full-length evening dresses but it is just important to wear it well and as mentioned try and keep the rest of the body covered to keep a touch of elegance about you.
